10 Sunshine Coast ‘game changing’ developments

The Sunshine Coast is on the verge of an extremely exciting growth period with a large variety of new development proposals underway. See some of what’s in store below.

1. Maroochydore City Centre 
A stunning $300 million CBD transformation, anticipated to generate up to 30,000 jobs by 2040 and boost the Sunshine Coast economy by $4.4 billion.

2. Sunshine Coast Airport  
A multi-million-dollar runway extension, setting the Sunshine Coast up for a major tourism boom and creating 1500 ongoing jobs.

3. Sunshine Plaza Redevelopment  
A $400 million project to stimulate the local economy by boosting ongoing employment and opening further opportunities to retailers.

4. Aura, Caloundra South 
A $5 billion project set to become the Sunshine Coast’s largest employment generator, bringing over 20,000 jobs and housing up to 50,000 people in the next three decades.

5. Oceanside Kawana 
One of the largest infrastructure projects ever undertaken on the Sunshine Coast, creating 12,000 ongoing jobs and contributing $828 million annually to the local and state economy.

6. Sunshine Coast University Hospital 
The soon-to-be medical hub in an integrated network of accessible healthcare facilities that will transform the health industry on the Sunshine Coast and create thousands of local jobs.

7. Harmony, Palmview 
A Master Planned Area to increase the population by 17,000 people, with construction expected to exceed $4 billion.

8. Sunshine Coast Solar Farm 
QLD’s first large-scale solar farm that will save the council approximately $22 million in electricity costs over 30 years.

9. $1.1 Billion Bruce Highway Upgrade
The $1.1 billion upgrade of the Bruce Highways from four to six lanes will enable the speed limit to be increased to 110km/hr, a critical step in improving the gateway to the Sunshine Coast.

10. $400 Million Water Park
An active lifestyle and tourism hub located on Steve Irwin Way, Glenview, featuring a wave park and extreme water sports facilities, as well as a sports training and development centre, a 4-star hotel, exhibition and conference centre, cafes, restaurants and retail outlets.
